Hi Jack. Nice update! Those designs for a wood cut print are dope.
On the chicken front, I am wondering why the flock needs to be internal? And we have the ladies use a ladder rather than a ramp, it takes a little bit of training, but it also seems to provide an added security from some predators like skunks.
Elise and I enjoyed "The North Woods". Have you read "Gather" yet?
I hope to see you around soon. Thanks for sharing all your words.
Hey friend! Thanks so much. Looking forward to starting one of those woodcuts this weekend.
Re: the flock being internal, it’s my silly (but maybe not so silly?) doomsday-prepper mentality of having self-sufficient systems. TBH, I think our whole town should have like…a chicken-raising cooperative?…where we all pledge to band or wing-tag our chickens into breeding groups so we can all exchange on the reg to keep our flocks’ genetics diversified! Even if someone was like me and only wanted to raise one breed of hen, enough neighborhood genetic diversity would still let that happen. And of course, community systems are always more resilient than household ones, so I feel like maybe this is a good idea that we should pursue? Maybe like, the Caledonia Chicken Exchange Network? 😂
Ooooh, good call on the ladder over the ramp! I’ve heard it also accumulates less poop, too. Makes sense!
Haven’t read Gather yet. Sounds like Greg’s gonna lose another audiobook credit from his hoard tonight. 😆
Thanks so much for reading, friend! See y’all around St. J Sparkles on Friday, and for pizza dinner ASAP!
