“…and so, there might be, then, a meaning to the question that is specific - that is someone who desires more connection to their community, and cares about building their community, and trying to make it better and leave it better. That is a quality that we share, and I would level that quality at people who I sort of disagree with politically in Vermont, but who still I recognize care about trying to make this place better. And I think we have a very high percentage of that…we may have a better per capita rate of giving a shit about leaving this place a little better on both sides of the aisle.”
Good late evening, friends and fellow Vermonters.
This evening marks the inaugural drop of the very first audio interview segment of To Be a Good Vermonter.
My guest for this recording is my dear friend and up-the-street neighbor Lucas Weiss. Lucas is a faculty member at St. Johnsbury Academy. He’s also a bonkers-good musician, an historian, and undoubtedly one of my most philosophical friends.
I hope y’all will enjoy my first earnest-but-imperfect attempt at this format - audio is a new medium for me and I’m still working out the kinks, but it’s not too shabby, I think.
And if you know a good Vermonter I should interview in the near future, I hope you’ll drop me a message to tell me all about them.
Stay good, my friends. ✌️ (Or at least try - that’s what I’m doing.)
