New Art Drop: "America Knows No Kings"
Need a fierce, fun, slightly horror-core political coloring book page? Or an incredible protest poster? I've gotcha covered. You can support my white-hot liberal rage *and* my livelihood for just $5.
TW: this post contains a black-and-white coloring-book style illustration that includes a depiction of a severed head belonging to one Donald Trump.
In my recent period of radio silence on Substack, I’ve been working on a good many things that I’m excited to finally share over the next couple of weeks.
One of those things is this illustration (below) that I made with the intent of it being both a coloring book page and a protest poster/flyer. It made me feel better to make it so I figured it might help other folks feel better to print it out and maybe color it, or just use it as-is as a bold, statement-making protest poster/flyer.
Here’s the design:

This illustration has around 9 hours of work in it. The design is based on traditional American tattoo flash with some, ahem, creative additions. I’ve made it available as a pay-what-you-like ($5+) digital download through my Kit creator dashboard.
Huge thanks to Nails - one of my longtime fave tattooers - who slings ink at Atra Capra Tattoo Collective in Birmingham, AL. I spent wayyyy too much time trying to perfect this banner but no matter what I did, it still looked weird. One quick Instagram consult later and the problem was solved. So if you’re ever seeking illustration feedback, let this be a lesson: ask a tattooer.
I’m so grateful in advance to anyone who purchases the digital download of this illustration. At the risk of being overly vulnerable on the internet, I’ll be frank: Trump’s federal funding cuts have had a massive negative impact on my small business. The vast majority of my WorkPlay Learning Design client base receives federal funding to support their operations…and now that money just isn’t there. Even where funding hasn’t been cut yet, folks are wary of spending any money on growth-focused initiatives like training design, learning certification programs, etc.
Heck, this illustration may be the thing that lets the mortgage get paid if all else fails - so I’m very thankful to anyone who purchases this, and equally thankful to anyone who shares it with their friends, family, and online networks.
If you do purchase and color it, or use it as a protest flyer/poster, I hope you’ll send me a photo to share online. Now…bust out those colored pencils, pour yourself a drink, and enjoy the satisfying-rage-coloring effect of good political art.
Thank you, friends.
Warmly,
Jack
You fucking rock.
